Black Light Art

This series of UV-reactive abstract acrylic paintings is informed by dark-field microscopy imagery of Borrelia burgdorferi. Translating microbial structures into layered abstract compositions, the works operate between scientific reference and perceptual transformation.

Under UV light, the paintings shift into a second visual state—glowing, reconfiguring, and revealing hidden chromatic structures that remain dormant in normal light. This dual condition creates works that exist in fluctuation, where perception is split between surface appearance and latent internal activity.
