Black Light Art
This series of UV-reactive abstract acrylic paintings draws inspiration from dark-field microscope imagery of Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria responsible for Lyme disease. Reimagined at a cellular scale, the works transform organic bacterial forms into anaglyphic compositions that blur the boundaries between science and art.
Under UV black light, the paintings shift and come alive—colors glowing, shapes mutating—revealing hidden layers and symbolic representations of the invisible struggles carried by those living with Lyme. In this interplay of light and transformation, the series captures both the microscopic voyage of the bacteria and the profound, unseen realities of illness.
